WESTERN MONTANA AND NORTH CENTRAL IDAHO FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MISSOULA MT 245 PM MDT WED JUL 26 2000 AT 18Z...SATELLITE SHOWED THE MAIN VORT LOBE LOCATED NEAR THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA COAST LINE AND A WEAKER VORT MAX OVER SOUTHEASTERN WASHINGTON. THE NEWEST AVN TOO SLOW AND WEAKER WITH THESE FEATURES. THE NGM COMPLETELY MISSES THE VORT CENTER IN WASHINGTON SO HAVE ELECTED TO FOLLOW THE MESO-ETA/ETA SOLUTION. RIDGE REMAINS OVER THE REGION THROUGH THE SHORT TERM FORECAST. THERMAL TROF MOVES EAST SLIGHTLY IN RESPONSE TO TROF OFF THE WEST COAST MOVING INLAND. THEREFORE CONVECTIVE ACTIVITY CONFINED MAINLY TO SOUTHWEST MONTANA ON THURSDAY. RIDGE REBUILDS OVER THE REGION ON FRIDAY WITH THE THERMAL TROF MOVING BACK OVER AREA.
