THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAND FORKS HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  PENNINGTON COUNTY IN NORTHWESTERN MINNESOTA
  WESTERN POLK COUNTY IN NORTHWESTERN MINNESOTA
  RED LAKE COUNTY IN NORTHWESTERN MINNESOTA

* UNTIL 425 PM CDT

* AT 1225 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
  THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING HEAVY RAIN OVER WESTERN POLK...PENNINGTON
  AND RED LAKE COUNTIES.  AN AREA OF STORMS EXTENDED FROM 10 MILES
  NORTH OF THIEF RIVER FALLS TO CROOKSTON TO GRAND FORKS.  THESE
  STORMS WERE MOVING EAST AT 35 MPH.

  THESE STORMS WILL PRODUCE ONE TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN IN A TWO HOUR
  PERIOD.  FLOODING OF LOW LYING AREAS WILL OCCUR.  WATER LEVELS IN
  SMALL STREAMS AND DITCHES MAY EXCEED THEIR BANKS IN SHORT TIME.
  THE RED LAKE RIVER AND SAND HILL RIVER MAY RISE DURING THE NEXT
  FOUR HOURS.

* SOME CITIES AFFECTED BY THIS FLOODING INCLUDE RED LAKE FALLS...
  THIEF RIVER FALLS...EAST GRAND FORKS...AND CROOKSTON.

MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMO>BILES.  DO NOT DRIVE YOUR
VEHICLE INTO WATER OF UNKNOWN DEPTH.  ONE OR TWO FEET OF WATER WILL
FLOAT MOST CARS DOWNSTREAM.
