000 WGUS54 KEWX 200148 FFWEWX TXC029-200330- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO TX 850 PM CDT FRI MAY 19 2000 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AUSTIN SAN ANTONIO HAS ISSUED A * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES IN TEXAS... BEXAR COUNTY MEDINA COUNTY * UNTIL 1030 PM CDT NEARLY STATIONARY HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS WERE PRODUCING RAINFALL RATES OF 2 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN OVER SOUTHEASTERN MEDINA AND WESTERN BEXAR COUNTIES. LEON CREEK MAY FLOOD WHICH COULD RESULT IN LOW LYING AREAS AND BRIDGES...AND POSSIBLY THE WESTOVER DRIVE BRIDGE ACROSS KELLY AFB IN THE NEXT FEW HOURS. OTHER SECONDARY ROADS AND LOW WATER CROSSINGS WILL FLOOD IN THE NEXT FEW HOURS MAKING DRIVING VERY HAZARDOUS. MOTORISTS SHOULD NOT ENTER FLOODED LOW WATER CROSSINGS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT.
