LINN COUNTY IN EAST CENTRAL IOWA BENTON COUNTY IN EAST CENTRAL IOWA * UNTIL 700 AM CDT * AT 235 AM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAIN WERE LOCATED OVER BENTON AND NORTHERN LINN COUNTIES. DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATES THAT UP TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN OVER PORTIONS OF NORTHWESTERN BENTON COUNTY IN THE LAST HOUR. * THUNDERSTORMS WERE CONTINUOUSLY REDEVELOPING AND MOVING SOUTHEAST OVER PORTIONS OF THE WARNED AREA. THIS WILL CONTINUE TO LEAD TO VERY HIGH RAINFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR AND THE LIKELIHOOD OF FLASH FLOODING. HEAVY RAINFALL WILL BEGIN TO EFFECT THE CEDAR RAPIDS METRO AREA IN THE NEXT HOUR. EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES. ADDITIONALLY...COUNTRY ROADS AND FARMLANDS ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS AND OTHER LOW LYING AREAS ARE SUBJECT TO FLASH FLOODING. BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.
