000 WGUS51 KBUF 101724 FFWBUF NYC049-102000- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BUFFALO NY 120 PM EDT WED MAY 10 2000 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BUFFALO HAS ISSUED A * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR... LEWIS COUNTY IN CENTRAL NEW YORK * UNTIL 400 PM EDT * AT 120 PM EDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR CONTINUED TO SHOW VERY HEAVY RAIN OVER MOST OF LEWIS COUNTY. SPOTTER REPORTS INDICATE 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN HAVE FALLEN SINCE 11 AM...WITH ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED TO DROP ANOTHER ONE TO TWO INCHES THROUGH 4 PM BEFORE THE ACTIVITY DIMINISHES. THIS MAY RESULT IN FLASH FLOODING...ESPECIALLY IN AREAS OF HILLY TERRAIN. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
