THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BROWNSVILLE HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  WESTERN HIDALGO COUNTY IN DEEP SOUTH TEXAS

* UNTIL 1215 AM CST SATURDAY MORNING

* AT 922 PM CST...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
  THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL NEAR LA JOYA...OR 12 MILES  
  WEST OF MISSION.  THESE THUNDERSTORMS WERE NEARLY STATIONARY AND ARE 
  PRODUCING RAINFALL RATES FROM 2 TO 3 INCHES AN HOUR. THE HEAVIEST  
  RAINFALL HAS BEEN CONCENTRATED NEAR THE TOWNS OF LA JOYA AND       
  SULLIVAN CITY IN THE SOUTHWESTERN CORNER OF HIDALGO COUNTY.

* RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING TO   
  OCCUR. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLASH FLOODING          
  INCLUDE...MCCOOK...LA JOYA...PENITAS AND SULLIVAN CITY.

DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF FLOOD WATERS. ONLY A FEW INCHES OF
RAPIDLY FLOWING WATER CAN QUICKLY CARRY AWAY YOUR VEHICLE.
