COLUMBIA COUNTY IN EAST CENTRAL NEW YORK BERKSHIRE COUNTY IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS * UNTIL 100 AM EDT SUNDAY * AT 635 PM EDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED VERY HEAVY RAIN MOVING NORTHWEST ACROSS THE TACONIC RIDGE. TOWNS MOST AFFECTED IN SOUTHWESTERN BERKSHIRE COUNTY INCLUDE...MOUNT WASHINGTON...EGREMONT... SHEFFIELD...ALFORD AND GREAT BARRINGTON. THE ASHLEY HILL BROOK... AND SCHENOB BROOK WILL BE AMONG THE CREEKS THAT ARE APT TO LEAVE THEIR BANKS. THE BAND OF RAIN WILL GRADUALLY MOVE INTO THE MORE NORTHERN SECTIONS OF THE COUNTY. RAINFALLS OF TWO TO FOUR INCHES HAVE ALREADY AFFECTED SOUTHWEST BERKSHIRE COUNTY EARLIER TODAY...AND AN ADDITIONAL INCH AND A HALF TO TWO INCHES WILL FALL DURING THE COURSE OF THE EVENING. * IN COLUMBIA COUNTY...PLACES NORTHEAST OF ROUTE 82 WILL BE MOST AFFECTED BY FLOOD PRODUCING RAINFALLS. CREEKS THAT WILL BE APT TO OVERFLOW INCLUDE THE ROELIFF JANSEN KILL...AND THE BASH BISH BROOK. RAINFALL IN THE ROUTE 203 AREA WAS SIMILAR TO THAT IN THE SOUTHWEST BERKSHIRES. EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING. IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNING AREA MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY. RESIDENTS LIVING ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY.
