THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TAUNTON HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  WORCESTER COUNTY IN MASSACHUSETTS
  THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF...BARRE...
  FITCHBURG...LEOMINSTER...WORCESTER

* UNTIL 900 PM EST

* AT 155 PM EST...RIVER GAGE REPORTS INDICATED STREAMS WERE RISING 
  SIGNIFICANTLY.  THE COMBINATION OF SNOWMELT AND ADDITIONAL RAINFALL
  THIS AFTERNOON WILL CAUSE MINOR FLOODING ON SOME SMALL RIVERS
  AND STREAMS.

AT 155 PM...THE WARE RIVER IN BARRE WAS APPROACHING 4 FEET.  MINOR 
FLOODING USUALLY OCCURS BETWEEN 4 AND 4.5 FEET.  THE RIVER IS 
EXPECTED TO RISE ABOVE 4 FEET THIS AFTERNOON AS IT RESPONDS TO 
ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AND SNOWMELT.  THE NORTH NASHUA RIVER IN 
FITCHBURG WAS ALSO RISING STEADILY...CURRENTLY AT 5.3 FEET.  IT IS ALSO 
EXPECTED TO CAUSE SOME LOCALIZED MINOR FLOODING AS IT CLIMBS ABOVE 
ITS 6.5 FOOT FLOOD STAGE LATER THIS AFTERNOON.

A FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT.  IT IS IMPORTANT TO 
KNOW WHERE YOU ARE RELATIVE TO RIVERS AND STREAMS. IF YOU LIVE ALONG 
A FLOOD PRONE STREAM NOW IS THE TIME TO TAKE ACTION TO PROTECT YOUR 
PROPERTY FROM RISING WATERS.
