THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ST LOUIS HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  MONITEAU COUNTY IN CENTRAL MISSOURI

* UNTIL 255 PM CDT

* INTENSE RAINS OVER MONITEAU COUNTY SINCE NOON HAS PRODUCED FLOOING
  IN PARTS OF MONITEAU COUNTY.  AT 1250 PM...HIGHWAY 50 WEST OF
  TIPTON WAS IMPASSIBLE DUE TO FLOOD WATER.

* SOUTHERN AND WESTERN SECTIONS OF THE COUNTY HAVE RECEIVED THE
  HEAVIEST RAINFALL...WITH RADAR ESTIMATES OF OVER 2 INCHES SINCE
  NOON.  SINCE THE STORMS HAVE ABATED...ANY FLOOD WATERS
  SHOULD RECEED FAIRLY QUICKY OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS...UNTIL THEN
  PEOPLE IN FLOOD PRONE AREAS SHOULD REMAIN ALERT.

  MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER ATTEMPT TO
  CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW-WATER CROSSINGS IF WATER COVERS THE
  ROAD. DO NOT DRIVE AROUND BARRICADES. IF ^YOUR VEHICLE STALLS
  ABANDON IT IMMEDIATELY AND SEEK HIGHER GROUND. RAPIDLY RISING
  WATER MAY SWEEP THE VEHICLE AND ITS OCCUPANTS AWAY.
