THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MOBILE HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL NOON CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN SOUTHWEST ALABAMA
 
   ...CHOCTAW COUNTY
 
AT 958 AM...MOBILE DOPPLER WEATHER RADAR SHOWED A CLUSTER OF
STRONG THUNDERSTORMS OVER EAST CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI. THESE
STORMS WILL TRACK TO THE SOUTHEAST AFFECTING AREAS FROM CROMWELL TO
BUTLER THROUGH THE LATE MORNING.
 
THESE STORMS WILL PRODUCE ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINS FROM ONE TO TWO INCHES
IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME...AGGRAVATING THE PROBLEMS IN NORTHERN
CHOCTAW COUNTY...WHICH RECEIVED NEARLY FIFTEEN INCHES OF RAIN ON MONDAY.
 
LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS WILL CAUSE RUNOFF INTO SWOLLEN CREEKS AND STREAMS.
PONDING OF WATER IN LOW LYING...POOR DRAINAGE AREAS AND AREA ROADWAYS IS
ALSO LIKELY IN THE NORTHERN HALF OF CHOCTAW COUNTY THROUGH THE NOON
HOUR.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT.  IT'S
IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS...RIVERS...OR
CREEKS WHICH CAN BECOME KILLERS IN HEAVY RAINS.  CAMPERS SHOULD
AVOID CAMPING ALONG STREAMS OR CREEKS DURING THREATENING RAINS.
