000 TTAA00 KATL 081642 RRA SVRATL GAC285-081720- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PEACHTREE CITY GA 1142 AM EST WED JAN 8 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PEACHTREE CITY HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1220 PM EST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN WEST CENTRAL GEORGIA ...TROUP COUNTY AT 1140 AM NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR SHOWED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM ENTERING WESTERN TROUP COUNTY OVER WEST POINT LAKE. THIS SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WAS MOVING NORTHEAST AT 45 MILES AN HOUR. THIS MOVEMENT WILL TAKE THE STORM TO LA GRANGE BY 1150 AM AND INTO THE HOGANSVILLE AREAS BY 1210 PM. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH...DESTRUCTIVE HAIL...DEADLY LIGHTNING...AND VERY HEAVY RAIN. FOR YOUR PROTECTION MOVE TO AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF YOUR HOME OR BUSINESS. HEAVY RAINS FLOOD ROADS QUICKLY SO DON'T DRIVE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROAD.
