000 TTAA00 KSAT 250106 FFWSAT TXC177-250400- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO TX 804 PM CDT SAT MAY 24 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1100 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS ...GONZALES COUNTY AT 8 PM RADAR INDICATED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUING ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF GONZALES COUNTY. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF TWO TO THREE INCHES HAVE FALLEN IN A 15 MILE WIDE BAND CENTERED ON A LINE FROM SMILEY TO GONZALES TO WAELDER. GROUNDS REMAIN SOAKED FROM PREVIOUS RAINS AND LOW WATER CROSSINGS AND LOW LYING AREAS IN THIS BAND ARE LIKELY ALRE YFLOODING. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WILL RUNOFF QUICKLY ADDING TO THE FLOODINTHREAT. THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE TO DEVELOP OVER WILSON COUNTY AND MOVE EASTWARD INTO GONZALES COUNTY. HEAVY RAIN ALONG WITH GUSTY WINDS AND POSSIBLY HAIL CAN BE EXPECTED WITH THESE STORMS THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS. STAY TUNED TO LOCAL TV..CABLE TV..RADIO OR NOAA WEATHER RADIO FOR UPDATES ON THIS FLOODING THREAT. AVOID ALREADY FLOODED AREAS. TRAVELERS SHOULD NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS FLOODED ROADS. IF YOUR VEHICLE STALLS...LEAVE IT AND MOVE IMMEDIATELY TO HIGHER GROUND IF YOU CAN DO SO SAFELY.
