000 TTAA00 KSAT 200305 FFWSAT TXC031-259-200500- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO TX 1004 PM CDT MON MAY 19 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS... IN SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS ...BLANCO COUNTY...KENDALL COUNTY AT 1000 PM DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL OVER KENDALL COUNTY BETWEEN BOERNE AND COMFORT AND OVER BLANCO COUNTY BETWEEN BLANCO AND HYE. RAINFALL RATES OF 2 TO 3 INCHES AN HOUR ARE BEING ESTIMATED. THE STORMS ARE MOVING TO THE SOUTHEAST AT 15 MPH. BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IMMINENT. MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT TO ESCAPE RISING WATER DURING THREATENING RAINS.
