THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL NOON CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI
 
   ...CEDAR COUNTY
 
AT 820 AM CDT RADAR IN SPRINGFIELD INDICATED THAT THE SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS HAD EXITED WEST CENTRAL MISSOURI. TWO TO FOUR INCHES HAD
LIKELY OCCURRED FROM EAST CENTRAL KANSAS INTO CEDAR COUNTY. THIS HEAVY
RAINFALL WILL CAUSE SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS TO FLOOD THIS MORNING AS
RUNOFF CONTINUES.
 
THIS FLOODING WILL CAUSE LOW WATER CROSSINGS AND OTHER FLOOD PRONE AREAS
TO BECOME COVERED WITH WATER AND IMPASSABLE THIS MORNING. PERSONS
TRAVELLING ALONG HIGHWAY 39 SHOULD BE CAREFUL AS THE BRIDGE OVER CEDAR
CREEK WILL LIKELY BECOME IMPASSABLE THIS MORNING. ANOTHER AREA WHICH MAY
BECOME FLOODED IS ALONG HIGHWAYS J AND N WHERE THEY CROSS THE SAC RIVER.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT.  IT'S
IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS...RIVERS...OR
CREEKS WHICH CAN BECOME KILLERS IN HEAVY RAINS.  CAMPERS SHOULD
AVOID CAMPING ALONG STREAMS OR CREEKS DURING THREATENING RAINS.
