THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PHILADELPHIA/MOUNT HOLLY HAS ISSUED A
FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL MIDNIGHT EST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN  DELAWARE
 
   ...NEW CASTLE COUNTY
 
HEAVY RAINS OF BETWEEN ONE INCH AND TWO INCHES THIS EVENING HAS FORCED
THE CHRISTINA RIVER AT COOCHS BRIDGE TO JUST BELOW FLOOD STAGE. AS OF 8
PM IT WAS READING AT 8.9 FEET AND FLOOD STAGE IS 9 FT. ALTHOUGH THE RAIN
WILL BECOME LIGHTER OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS...THE RIVER IS EXPECTED TO
CREST ABOVE FLOOD STAGE BY 830 PM. IN ADDITION...OTHER SMALLER RIVERS
AND STREAMS COULD ALSO BE EXCEEDING THEIR BANKS.
 
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THROUGH FLOODED AREAS.  THE DEPTH OF THE
WATER MAY BE HIGHER THAN YOU THINK.  RAPIDLY RISING WATERS CAN
QUICKLY ENGULF YOUR VEHICLE AND ITS OCCUPANTS...WASHING THEM AWbAY.
REMEMBER...MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.
