000 TTAA00 KNYC 100018 TORNYC CTC011-100115- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED TORNADO WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY 817 PM EDT TUE JUL 9 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW YORK HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 915 PM EDT FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTHEAST CONNECTICUT ...NEW LONDON COUNTY AND THE ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS AT 816 PM NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A POSSIBLE TO AENTERING WESTERN NEW LONDON COUNTY NEAR THE TOWNS OF NORTH LYME AND SALEM. THIS POSSIBLE TORNADO WAS MOVING EAST AT 25 MPH AND WILL HEAD TOWARDS CHESTERFIELD IN THE NEXT 20 MINUTES. IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF A TORNADO...THE SAFEST PLACE IS A BASEMENT.
