000 TTAA00 KSTL 061454 FFWSTL MOC051-135-151-061845- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ST LOUIS MO 950 AM CDT MON MAY 6 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ST LOUIS HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 145 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS... IN CENTRAL MISSOURI ...COLE COUNTY...MONITEAU COUNTY...OSAGE COUNTY AT 940 AM CDT...WSR-88D DOPPLER RADAR AT ST. LOUIS SHOWED A NEARLY EAST-WEST CLUSTER OF THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDING FROM 40 MILES WEST OF JEFFERSON CITY TO ST. CLAIR MISSOURI IN FRANKLIN COUNTY. SOME OF THE STRONGER THUNDERSTORMS...PRODUCING HEAVY RAINFALL WERE LOCATED IN MONITEAU...COLES AND OSAGE COUNTIES IN CENTRAL MISSOURI. SOME CITIES IN THE FLASH FLOOD WARNED AREA INCLUDE JEFFERSON CITY... HIGH POINT...BRAZITO...AND LINN. THESE STORMS CONTINUE TO SLOWLY MOVE EAST-SOUTHEAST AT SPEEDS OF 15 TO 20 MPH. RAINFALL ESTIMATES OF 1.5 TO 2.0 INCHES HAVE OCCURRED SINCE 800 AM CDT. PREVIOUS RAINS HAVE ALREADY SATURATED THE GROUND. THEREFORE ADDITIONAL RAINFALL IS EXPECTED TO PRODUCE FLASH FLOODING. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTHERN HALF OF MISSOURI THROUGH LATE THIS AFTERNOON. IF FLASH FLOODINGv IS OBSERVED OR IMMINENT...MOVE QUICKLY TO HIGHER GROUND.
