THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HOUSTON HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  800 AM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN SOUTHEAST TEXAS
 
   ...POLK COUNTY...SAN JACINTO COUNTY
 
AT 610 AM...THE HEAVY RAINS WERE COMING TO AN END OVER MOST OF THE COUNTEXCEPT ALONG THE SOUTHERN COUNTY LINE. SHOWERS WILL STILL BE POSSIBLE
OVER THE COUNTY THROUGH 8 AM. EXTENSIVE RUNOFF FROM EARLIER RAINS HAVE
CAUSED FLOODING PROBLEMS IN POLK AND SAN JACINTO COUNTIES. THE
RUNOFF WILL CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT HOUR OR TWO CAUSING STREAMS TO RIVERS
TO SWELL. RIVER FLOOD WARNINGS MAY FOLLOWING IN THE NEXT FEW HOURS.
 
LIVINGSTON POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTED FLOODING IN PEDIGO PARK NEAR
HIGHWAY 59 BYPASS.
 
LONG KING CREEK AT HIGHWAY 190 HAS RISEN MORE THAN 12 FEET SINCE 230
AM...AN ADDITIONAL RISE IS LIKELY.  INTERESTS NEAR LONG KING CREEK
SHOULD WATCH FOR RISING WATER.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER
COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW
YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD
BE ABANDONED QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT. IT'S IMPORTANT
TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS...RIVERS...OR CREEKS WHICH
CAN BECOME KILLERS IN HEAVY RAINS. CAMPERS SHOULD MOVE TO HIGHER
GROUND AND AVOID CAMPING ALONG STREAMS OR CREEKS DURING THREATENING
RAINS.
