FLOOD WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GREEN BAY WI
1043 PM CDT TUE JUN 18 1996

 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE
UNTIL 700 AM CDT FOR SHAWANO COUNTY OF NORTHEAST WISCONSIN.

RAINFALL FROM THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS HAS CAUSED RIVERS AND STREAMS IN
SHAWANO COUNTY TO OVERFLOW THEIR BANKS. ACCORDING TO THE SHAWANO COUNTY
EMERGENCY GOVERNMENT DIRECTOR...MANY ROADS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY STILL
HAD STANDING WATER TUESDAY NIGHT. BASEMENTS WERE FLOODED IN SOME HOMES
NEAR THE RED RIVER AND NEAR THE LEOPOLIS DAM...AND WATER REACHED ABOUT
HALF WAY INTO SOME PROPERTIES ALONG THE WOLF RIVER.

SCATTERED SHOWERS CAN BE EXPECTED OVERNIGHT SO ANY ADDITIONAL RAINFALL
WILL LIKELY KEEP THE WATERS FROM RECEDING MUCH.
 
HEAVY RAINS HAVE SATURATED THE GROUND AND ADDITIONAL RAIN WILL PRODUCE
MORE FLOODING.  PERSONS LIVING IN FLOOD PRONE AREAS SHOULD MOVE TO
HIGHER GROUND.
