THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RALEIGH/DURHAM HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  100 AM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN NORTH CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA
 
   ...ORANGE COUNTY
 
....THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR ORANGE COUNTY HAS BEEN EXTENDED....
 
AT 11 PM EDT...MODERATE RAIN WAS CONTINUING OVER ORANGE COUNTY AND
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THAT AREAS OF MODERATE
RAINFALL WILL CONTINUE OVER ORANGE COUNTY FOR THE NEXT FEW HOUR.  COUNTY
OFFICIALS IN HILLSBORO REPORTED NUMEROUS REPORTS OF FLOODING OVER THE
COUNTY THIS EVENING.
 
FLOOD WATERS ARE HARDER TO SEE AT NIGHT AND MOST FLASH FLOOD
FATALITIES OCCUR AT NIGHT.  AVOID DRIVING ACROSS FLOODED ROADWAYS.
WATER TWO FEET DEEP CAN FLOAT MOST CARS OFF THE ROAD.  REPORT
FLOODING TO LOCAL EMERGENCY OFFICIALS IMMEDIATELY.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT.  STAY ALERT IF YOU ARE IN FLOOD-PRONE AREAS NEAR STREAMS
AND CREEKS.  WATCH FOR RAPIDLY RISING WATER.  BE PREPARED TO ACT
QUICKLY AND MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED.
