000 TTAA00 KMHX 070726 TORMHX NCC055-070800- BULLETIN - EBS ACTIVATION REQUESTED TORNADO AND SPECIAL MARINE WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEWPORT NC 228 AM EST SAT JAN 7 1995 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEWPORT HAS ISSUED A TORNADO AND SPECIAL MARINE WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 300 AM EST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN EAST CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA ...DARE COUNTY AT 225 AM...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A POSSIBLE TORNADO ALONG THE NORTH END OF LAKE MATTAMUSKEET IN CENTRAL HYDE COUNTY. THE TORNADO WAS MOVING RAPIDLY NORTHEAST AT 50 MPH WHICH WILL BRING IT INTO DARE COUNTY WEST OF STUMPY POINT BEFORE 240 AM. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL ALSO MOVE ACROSS THE NORTHERN PAMLICO SOUND THROUGH 245 AM AND SHOULD APPROACH OREGON INLET BY 300 AM. MARINERS IN THE PATH OF THIS DANGEROUS WEATHER SHOULD SEEK SHELTER IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS A DANGEROUS STORM SITUATION. ACT QUICKLY. IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF THIS TORNADO MOVE TO A SHELTER BELOW GROUND IF AVAILABLE. OTHERWISE...GO TO A SMALL INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR POSSIBLE. AVOID WINDOWS. ABANDON CARS AND MOBILE HOMES FOR A REINFORCED BUILDING OR GET INTO A DITCH OR CULVERT.
