THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORFOLK HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  830 PM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA
 
   ...BOYD COUNTY...BROWN COUNTY...HOLT COUNTY...KEYA PAHA COUNTY
   ...ROCK COUNTY
 
RAINS OF 3 TO 4 INCHES HAVE FALLEN ACROSS THE WARNED AREA TODAY AND
SMALL STREAMS AND RIVERS ARE RISING RAPIDLY. MANY ROADS ARE UNDER WATER
AND ADDITIONAL RAINFALL IS EXPECTED THROUGH THE NIGHT. THE ELKHORN AND
NIOBRARA RIVERS AND SMALLER TRIBUTARIES WILL BE IN FLOOD THIS EVENING
AND INTO TONIGHT.
 
IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE UP TO ESCAPE
FLOOD WATERS.  DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER
BEGINS RISING.  BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER
TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLASH FLOODING.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
