THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BROWNSVILLE HAS ISSUED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1145 AM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...S...
 
IN SOUTH TEXAS
 
   ...CAMERON COUNTY...EASTERN HIDALGO COUNTY
 
   AND THE ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS OF THE LOWER TEXAS COAST
THE BAY WATERS OF THE LAGUNA MADRE
 
AT 1040 AM...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM NEAR
WESLACO OR ABOUT 30 MILES NORTHWEST OF BROWNSVILLE. THE STORM
WAS MOVING VERY SLOWLY TO THE EAST.  THE STORM WILL AFFECT
PROGRESSO...MERCEDES...AND THE ADAMS GARDENS AND POSSIBLY
RANCHO VIEJO BY 1130 AM.
 
WHEN THUNDERSTORMS ARE OCCURRING...PEOPLE SHOULD MOVE INSIDE A
STRONG BUILDING.  DO NOT STAND BY WINDOWS.  DON'T USE TELEPHONES
OR ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES UNLESS IN AN EMERGENCY UNTIL THE STORM
HAS PASSED.  MOTORISTS SHOULD NOT DRIVE INTO LOW WATER CROSSINGS.
 
REMEMBER SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE
TORNADOES WITH LITTLE OR NO ADVANCE WARNING.  REMAIN CALM BUT
BE ALERT TO RAPIDLY CHANGING WEATHER CONDITIONS.
