THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MINNEAPOLIS HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1000 PM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN EAST CENTRAL MINNESOTA
 
   ...CHISAGO COUNTY
 
THUNDERSTORTMS PRODUCING TORRENTAIL RAIN ARE MOVING THROUGH CHISAGO
COUNTY. THE STRONGEST STORM WAS LOCATED FROM NEAR CHISAGO CITY
TO NORTH BRANCH...ABOUT 10 TO 20 MILES EAST SOUTHEAST OF CAMBRIDGE.
 
NUMEROUS REPORTS OF RAINFALL IN EXCESS OF 3 INCHES HAVE BEEN RECEIVED
IN THE CHISAGO CITY AREA. SOME STREET FLOODING WAS ALSO OCCURRING.
 
THE STORMS WERE MOVING TO THE NORTH NORTHEAST AT 30 MILES AN HOUR AND
WILL BE AFFECTING THE NORTH BRANCH...CHISAGO CITY AND CENTER CITY
VICINITIES THROUGH AT LEAST 9 PM.
 
FLOOD WATERS ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.  DRIVING THROUGH HIGH WATER
IS THE WORST THING YOU CAN DO.  TWO FEET OF MOVING WATER IS
ENOUGH TO CARRY AWAY MOST CARS.  IF YOUR CAR BECOMES STALLED
IN HIGH WATER...ABANDON IT IMMEDIATELY.
 
HEAVY RAINS CAN FLOOD BASEMENTS...AND STREETS CAN BECOME RIVERS.
MOST FLOODING DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES2.  DO NOT DRIVE YOUR
VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROAD...THE WATER
MAY BE TOO DEEP TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY.  IF YOUR
BASEMENT BECOMES FLOODED...WATCH OUT FOR COLLAPSING WALLS.
