FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1230 AM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA
 
   ...EASTERN COBB COUNTY...NORTHERN DEKALB COUNTY
   ...NORTHERN FULTON COUNTY
 
AT 730 PM EDT AN AREA OF RAIN WITH EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS WAS MOVING
THROUGH THE ATLANTA METROPILITIAN AREA. HEAVY RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF OVER
2 INCHES HAVE BEEN REPORTED FROM THE THUNDERSTORMS. FLOODING OF LOW
LYING AREAS...ROADWAYS AND SOME HOMES HAS OCCURRED. RESIDENTS ALONG OR
NEAR SWEETWATER...PEACHTREE...NANCY..AND SOPE CREEKS SHOULD TAKE
APPROPRIATE PRECAUTIONS AS THE CREEKS ARE ON THE RISE. SWEETWATER
CREEK IS NEAR FLOOD STAGE AND THER ARE REPORTS OF FLOODING ON
NANCY CREEK.
 
 
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT.  MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL
ONE...ON FOOT.  TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
