THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1200 PM MST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY
IN THE SOUTH CENTRAL PART OF ARIZONA
EASTERN PIMA
AT 10 AM THE PIMA FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT REPORTED THAT THE TANQUE
VERDE WASH WAS OVERFLOWING ITS BANKS IN THE LOW LYING AREA NEAR
WENTWORTH ROAD. STREAM GAUGES ON THE WASH HAVE REPORTED DEPTHS OF
7 TO 7 AND ONE HALF FEET IN THE LAST HOUR. THE WASH IS BANK FULL
AT THE TANQUE VERDE LOOP ROAD. FLOODING OF LOW LYING AREAS ALL
ALONG THE TANQUE VERDE CREEK WILL OCCUR TODAY.
STAY OUT OF WASHES AND LOW LYING AREAS. FLASH FLOODS CAN OCCUR
WITH LITTLE OR NO ADVANCE WARNING.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE OVER ROADS COVERED BY FLOOD WATERS OR
ACROSS FLOODED HIGHWAY DIPS.

AZZ009-241430- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TUCSON AZ 520 AM MST TUE JUL 24 1990 AT 515 AM WEATHER SERVICE RADAR AT THE TUCSON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT INDICATED THAT THE STRONG THUNDERSTORMS ALONG I-19 WERE GENERALLY WEAKER AND MOVING ACROSS THE BORDER INTO MEXICO. NEW STORMS ARE FORMING JUST NORTH OF TUCSON AND ARE EXPECTED TO MOVE THROUGH EASTERN PIMA COUNTY OVER THE NEXT COUPLE HOURS. THIS SAME SYSTEM OF STORMS CAUSED SOME MINOR DAMAGE AND FLOODING IN THE PHOENIX AREA THIS MORNING. ALL PERSONS IN THE VICINITY OF TUCSON ARE URGED TO BE CAUTIOUS WHILE TRAVELING AROUND THE AREA THIS MORNING. NWS/TUS/NORDQUIST
