THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  815 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS......
 
IN CENTRAL DELAWARE
 
   ...NORTHEASTERN KENT COUNTY
 
WEATHER RADAR HAS SHOWN AN AREA OF HEAVY SHOWERS IN NORTHEAST KENT
COUNTY FOR THE PAST 3 TO 4 HOURS...AND MORE HEAVY SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE
FOR THE NEXT HOUR OR SO. HEAVY RAINS OF 2 TO 5 ARE POSSIBLE IN PARTS
OF NORTHEAST KENT COUNTY. THE DELAWARE STATE POLICE INDICATED THAT
PARTS OF DELAWARE STATE ROUTE 9 IN NORTHEAST KENT COUNTY WAS CLOSED
DUE TO HIGH WATER CROSSING THE ROAD. SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS WILL
ALSO LIKELY OVERFLOW. PERSONS RESIDING IN FLOOD PRONE AREAS AND
MOTORISTS TRAVELING THROUGH THE AREA SHOULD BE ON THE ALERT FOR
RAPIDLY RISING STREAMS AND WATER CROSSING ROADWAYS. THE FLOODING WILL
LAST FOR SEVERAL HOURS INTO THIS EVENING.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONE2D QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
