THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DODGE CITY HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  745 AM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY...
 
IN SOUTHWEST KANSAS
          ...EASTERN FORD
 
THE FORD COUNTY SHERIFF DEPARTMENT REPORTED HIGHWAY 154 JUST NORTH OF
FORD KANSAS WHICH IS 18 MILES SOUTHEAST OF DODGE CITY TO BE UNDER
ABOUT ONE FOOT OF WATER AT 325 AM CDT. THE FORD-ENSIGN ROAD JUST
NORTHWEST OF FORD KANSAS ALONG THE MULBERRY CREEK IS ALSO UNDER ABOUT
TWO FEET OF WATER.
 
HEAVY RAINS THAT FELL BETWEEN 3 AND 4 AM CDT DUMPED A LOT OF RAIN IN
THE ABOVE VICINITY CAUSING THE FLASH FLOODING OVER THESE ROADS.
 
 
 
MOST FLOODING DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
CROSS BRIDGES... DIPS... OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMCALL
ONE...ON FOOT.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE ACROSS WATER-COVERED ROADWAYS. THE
WATER DEPTH AND CURRENT MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.
