THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM
WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING
COUNTIES

   IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK
   ERIE

AT 1050PM BUFFALO WEATHER RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WHICH HAS
REDEVELOPED OVER EXTREME EASTERN LAKE ERIE ABOUT 20 MILES WEST OF DOWNTOWN
BUFFALO. THIS STORM WAS MOVING EAST AT 45 MPH AND WILL BE MOVING ASHORE
INTO THE BUFFALO SOUTHTOWNS. THESE STORMS HAVE A HISTORY OF PRODUCING
DAMAGING WINDS TONIGHT IN PARTS OF THE METRO AREA...AS WELL AS HAIL.

BE ON THE ALERT FOR THUNDERSTORMS ACCOMPANIED BY FREQUENT LIGHTNING
STRONG DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL. LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN MAY ALSO
CAUSE DRAINAGE FLOODING.

IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES GO TO A SAFE PLACE IMMEDIATELY.
IN HOMES A BASEMENT OR INTERIOR ROOM IS THE SAFEST LOCATION.
