THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBANY HAS EXTENDED THE FLOOD
WARNING FOR THE AUSABLE RIVER UNTIL UNTIL  700 PM EST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...

IN NORTHEAST NEW YORK
          ...NORTHERN ESSEX
          ...SOUTHERN CLINTON

AT 400 PM...THE AUSABLE EAST BRANCH WAS A FEW INCHES OVER 12 FT AND
STILL RISING ABOUT 4 INCHES PER HOUR AT AUSABLE FORKS.     THIS
FLOODING WAS A RESULT OF AN ICE JAM...MELTING SNOW...AND LAST NIGHTS
RAIN.

EARLIER TODAY...ROUTES 9N...86...AND ESSEX CO ROUTE 64 WERE CLOSED
BY THE FLOODING.

TODAY...IT WAS 53 DEGREES AT SARANAC LAKE TO THE WEST OF THE
AUSABLE BASIN.   WARM AIR ALOFT WAS MELTING SOME OF THE  WINTER
SNOW COVER.  THE RIVER/S FLOW WILL CONTINUE TO INCREASE THE REST
OF THIS AFTERNOON.

SHOULD THE JAM GIVE WAY...IT/LL RELIEVE SOME OF THE FLOODING AT
AUSABLE FORKS...BUT IT COULD CAUSE SUDDEN FLOODING DOWN RIVER
AT CLINTONVILLE...KEESEVILLE...AND AUSABLE CHASM.

OBEY DIRECTIONS OF YOUR LOCAL OFFICALS...AND DON/T DRIVE OVER
FLOODED ROADS OR BRIDGES.  IF YOUR HOME IS THREATENED BY FLOOD
WATERS...LEAVE IT BEFORE YOUR WAY OU8T TO HIGHER GROUND BECOMES
FLOODED.
