FLASH FLOOD WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE EVANSVILLE IN
1104 AM CDT WED JUL 8 1987

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING 
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 100 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY OF

SOUTHWEST INDIANA...NORTHEAST KNOX

AT 1055AM CDT THUNDERSTORMS WERE DUMPING VERY HEAVY RAIN IN THE
NORTHEAST QUARTER OF KNOX COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST INDIANA.  THIS
ADDITIONAL RAINFALL ON TOP OF MORE THAN ONE AND ONE HALF INCH OF
RAIN WILL PRODUCE FLOODING IN LOW AREAS AND NEAR CREEKS AND SMALL
RIVERS.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROAD.
THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOU TO CROSS SAFELY PLUS
THE ROADWAY MAY BE WASHED OUT. A VEHICLE CAUGHT IN RISING WATER
SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGH GROUND.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS FLOODING IS IMMINENT. ITS IMPORTANT TO
KNOW WHERE YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS...RIVERS OR CREEKS WHICH
CAN BECOME KILLERS IN HEAVY RAIN. CAMPERS SHOULD AVOID CAMPING
ALONG STREAMS OR CREEKS DURING THREATENING WEATHER.

TAKE THE NECCESSARY PRECAUTIONS. REPORT FLOODING TO THE NEAREST
LAW ENFORCEMENT AGE#NCY FOR RELAY TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.

 THIS FLOODING WILL AFFECT THE TOWNS OF WESTPHALIA AND BICKNELL IN
 KNOX COUNTY INDIAN.
