SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MINNEAPOLIS/ST PAUL MN 330 PM CDT SAT JUN 21 1986 ...DANGEROUS SEVERE WEATHER SITUTION DEVELOPING OVER MINNESOTA... A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SEVERE WEATHER SITUATION IS SETTING UP OVER WESTERN MINNESOTA THIS SATURDAY AFTERNOON..AND IT APPEARS THAT MOST OF MINNESOTA WILL EXPERIENCE A SEVERE WEATHER THREAT BY THE END OF THIS SATURDAY EVENING. AN EXPLOSIVELY UNSTABLE AIRMASS OVER MINNESOTA IN COMBINATION WITH A STRONG UPPER ATMOSPHERIC DISTURBANCE FAVORS WIDESPREAD VIOLENT THUNDERSTORMS WITH LARGE HAIL AND DESTRUCTIVE SURFACE WINDS. ALL INGREDIENTS FOR THESE STORMS ARE IN PLACE. SOME THUNDERSTORMS OVER WESTCENTRAL MINNESOTA HAVE ALREADY GROWN TO 65000 FEET WHICH IS EXCEPTIONALLY HIGH FOR THIS PART OF THE COUNTRY. THIS UNDERSCORES THE STRONG NATURE OF THIS PARTICULAR SEVERE WEATHER SITUATION. THE SEVERE WEATHER WILL PROBABLY BE MOVING INTO EASTERN SECTIONS OF MINONESOTA SOMETIME THIS EVENING.
