Sunday, September 20: As a cold front advances through the Columbus region, atmospheric mixing and dispersion will increase. Additionally, clouds and rain showers will inhibit ozone formation. However, periods of light winds will limit pollutant dispersion, yielding high-Good AQI levels. Monday, September 21 through Wednesday, September 23: Northeasterly to easterly winds will transport clean, cool air into central Ohio, while mostly cloudy skies and showers will limit ozone development. Therefore, AQI levels will remain Good on all three days. Thursday and Friday, increasing sunshine will enhance ozone production in central Ohio. However, with high pressure positioned to the north, northeasterly winds will continue to disperse pollutants and carry clean air into the region. As a result, AQI levels will be Good on both days.
