The Upton 3 Fire in Tom Green County started on the afternoon of September 14, 2026 under elevated fire conditions. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters and heavy equipment at 1:38 pm and responded quickly. Texas A&M Forest Service is currently in unified command with local departments. FINAL UPDATE, Friday, September 18, 4 pm: The Upton 3 Fire is 100% contained. Update, Friday, September 18, 9 am: Crews will continue to mopup and patrol teh firelines, but will be available for initial attack response to other fires if they occur.
