Moose Mountain is a wildfire started by lightning and burning approximately 4 miles north of Kelly Forks Campground and Guard Station. The Moose Mountain Fire has burned down to the North Fork of the Clearwater River prompting a closure of that section of Forest Road #250 in Black Canyon. The evacuation level has been reduced to Level 1 "READY" for the Independence Creek and Deception Saddle communities. ROAD ACCESS: The Moose Mountain Fire area closure has been reduced. All previously closed roads and trails have reopened, with the exception of Forest Road 250 between Elizabeth Creek and Hidden Creek Campground. Hidden Creek Campground remains open to the public. Please note: There is no suitable trailer access from Kelly Forks to Elizabeth Creek via Forest Road 250. Safety Reminder: Firefighting operations and fire-affected terrain remain present along this corridor. Motorists should drive with caution, watch for fire equipment and personnel, and be alert for reduced visibility from smoke, falling snags, and debris on or near the roadway. Do not stop to access closed areas, and be prepared to yield to emergency and fire traffic at all times.
