The King Fire is located in a remote, mountainous wilderness area. Currently, the fire has been assessed, and some helicopter buckets have been used in suppression efforts. The strategic objectives for the King Fire are to ensure public and firefighter safety by maintaining and enforcing established evacuation levels and area closures, while providing accurate, timely information to the affected communities. At the King fire, fire crews continued to track any progression southward. Recent precipitation and high relative humidity have significantly moderated fire behavior. The suppression strategy remains focused on protecting life, property, and values at risk while maintaining established control features and suppressing residual heat where opportunities exist.
