   Light damage. Surface peeled off some roofs, gutters and siding damaged, branches broken, shallow-rooted trees pushed over.

2. EF186 to 110 mph

   Moderate damage. Roofs badly stripped, mobile homes overturned or badly damaged, exterior doors lost, windows broken.

3. EF2111 to 135 mphthis tornado

   Considerable damage. Roofs torn off well-built houses, frame homes shifted on their foundations, mobile homes destroyed, large trees snapped or uprooted, cars lifted off the ground.

4. EF3136 to 165 mph

   Severe damage. Whole stories of well-built houses destroyed, large buildings badly damaged, trains overturned, trees debarked, heavy cars lifted and thrown.

5. EF4166 to 200 mph

   Devastating damage. Well-built houses leveled, structures with weak foundations moved some distance, cars thrown and large missiles generated.

6. EF5over 200 mph

   Incredible damage. Strong frame houses swept off their foundations, car-sized missiles thrown more than 100 meters, steel-reinforced concrete badly damaged, high-rise buildings deformed.

7. Unrated

   The survey recorded a tornado but could not put a number on it, most often because it crossed open country and damaged nothing a rating can be read from.

A tornado outbreak occurred in the morning hours of December 13th resulting in 16 tornadoes across the northern half of the CWA; generally all along and north of Interstate 20. A total of 4 tornadoes were rated EF-2, and 9 people were injured, but none sustained life saving injuries. The most injuries occurred in the Grapevine tornado in Tarrant County. In addition to the tornadoes, one storm produced hail up to the size tennis balls in Rockwall County.

An EF-2 tornado affected Wise County from southeast of Paradise to southeast of Decatur. The tornado started along Thompson Road where tree damage was noted along with minor structure damage. Moving northeast the tornado impacted structures and trees along CRs 4380 & 4396. The tornado appeared to strengthen and widen as it approached CR 4280 near CR 4191. The tornado struck two homes along CR 4191 causing EF-2 damage. Continuing northeast, the tornado caused EF-2 roof damage to two more homes along FM 730. The next notable damage was to an industrial park near Highway 287 and FM 2264. This area was rated EF-1. By this time, the tornado had narrowed in width. It continued to do minor damage until it lifted north of CR 4010. Maximum estimated winds were 125 mph.

The county was under a tornado watch, issued at 10:00 UTC and running to 15:12 UTC.
