EF0 tornado, Payne to Wayne, Oklahoma, May 19, 2018

From Payne to Wayne, this EF0 tornado ran 7.0 miles across McClain County on May 19, 2018, touching down at 12:17 AM CDT and reaching 50 yards wide. It killed nobody, and did $10,000 of property damage.

The rating scale

    Devastating damage. Well-built houses leveled, structures with weak foundations moved some distance, cars thrown and large missiles generated.

  6. EF5over 200 mph

    Incredible damage. Strong frame houses swept off their foundations, car-sized missiles thrown more than 100 meters, steel-reinforced concrete badly damaged, high-rise buildings deformed.

What the Weather Service recorded

An area of storms formed across Oklahoma along and around a stationary front (several other lingering boundaries contributed as well) on the afternoon of the 19th. These storms moved southeast into the night with some training resulting in flooding.

A small, weak tornado developed within a quasi-linear convective system and moved northeast from west-southwest of Wayne to north of Wayne. The roof of one home was damaged along state highway 74, otherwise the damage was primarily to trees and a four outbuildings.
