Rio Grande at Eagle Pass

1. 54.00 ft(16.5 meters), Water is to the heads of parking meters in the downtown section of Eagle Pass with major damage to the International and Union Pacific International Railroad Bridges. Water is several inches deep at the intersection of Monroe and Main Streets. Most of Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras are evacuated at this level with many homes severely flooded below Amistad Dam to below Laredo. Thousands of cattle are cut off and drowned below Del Rio to Falcon Lake.
2. 51.00 ft(15.5 meters), Flow inundates the main business section of Eagle Pass causing most of Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras to be evacuated. The International Highway bridge and Railway bridge floors are severely flooded. Residences in the flood plain below Amistad Dam to below Laredo are severely flooded with life threatening conditions. Cattle are cut off and drowned.
3. 47.00 ft(14.3 meters), Major flooding inundates much of the residential and business areas of Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras. Threatening the downtown section of Eagle Pass. The International Bridge is severely flooded and damaged. Nearly all highways into Eagle Pass are closed.
4. 46.00 ft(14.0 meters), Widespread disastrous flooding reaches much of the residential and business areas of Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras. The International Bridge is under several feet of water. Most roads into Eagle Pass are severely flooded.
5. 42.50 ft(12.6 meters), Flow reaches the elevation of the Piedras Negras levee. Much of the residential area is protected to this level but not nearly all. Business and residential flooding in Piedras Negras and Laredo is disastrous. The International Bridge floor is threatened. Cattle below Del Rio to Falcon Dam are trapped and potentially drowned. Roads and bridges well away from the river are flooded and dangerous.
6. 39.00 ft(11.9 meters), Widespread major flooding reaches the first city blocks of downtown Eagle Pass flooding many homes and businesses. Most roads into Eagle Pass are closed including Highway 277.
7. 35.00 ft(10.7 meters), Major flooding. Shelby Park is under water. The golf couse is under water. Several feet of water covers the intersection of Ryan and Main Streets. Water begins to impact 20 homes and businesses in the first blocks adjacent to the river. Water approaches the lowest homes on Rio Drive in the Las Brisas subdivision. Flow backs up Seco Creek over a mile flooding homes. Elm and Eagle Pass Creeks flood streets and roads.
8. 31.00 ft(9.5 meters), Major flooding. Water reaches the parking lot of the Lucky Eagle Casino. Water reaches lowest residences in the flood plain flood below Amistad Dam to below Laredo. Streets, roads and bridges near the river are dangerously flooded. Livestock are trapped and possibly drowned below Del Rio to below Laredo.
9. 29.00 ft(8.8 meters), Conditions are life threatening with water reaching into the lowest homes and businesses. Cattle are trapped and potentially drowned in the flood plain below Del Rio to below Laredo.
10. 25.00 ft(7.6 meters), Major flooding threatens the lowest homes and businesses in Eagle Pass. Livestock are trapped and potentially drowned in the flood plain below Del Rio to above Laredo. Roads and low bridges near the river flood and are dangerous.
11. 21.00 ft(6.4 meters), Water reaches Ryan Street above Shelby Park. River flow is to the edge of the bluff on the left bank at Eagle Pass. Livestock in the flood plain can be trapped and drowned. Any equipment in the flood plain will be flooded or damaged.
12. 18.00 ft(5.5 meters), Moderate flooding. Much of Shelby Park is flooded. Water floods the lowest sections of the golf course. Lowland flooding is well into the flood plain at Eagle Pass. Flooding any activities or equipment in the flood plain.
13. 16.00 ft(4.9 meters), Water covers a small portion of Shelby Park and the golf course. Minor lowland flooding can cut off and drown livestock in the river channel. Irrigation pumps and equipment are damaged in the flood plain. Any activity or festivities in the flood plain at Eagle Pass are flooded.
14. 13.00 ft(4.0 meters), Overbank conditions with water well into the flood plain threatening livestock and irrigation pumps.
