Guadalupe River at Victoria

1. 34.04 ftThis is the flood of record, which occurred on October 20 1998. Disasterous flooding occurs. Over 600 homes in the west and southwest part of the city of Victoria and over 300 homes in the county of Victoria are affected. The AEP Power Plant on Bottom Road is under water and electricity may be shut off on the south side of town.
2. 33.40 ftThis is the 500 year flood...or 0.2 percent chance frequency flood...established by USGS in October 2006. Widespread major flooding. At least 40 square blocks of Greens Addition Subdivision are flooded. Areas west of Moody St between Water St and Constitution St flood. Flooding increases in Riverside Park and much of the golf course, including the golf cart sheds and the Texas Zoo. Much of the floodplain near and below the Guadalupe and San Antonio River confluence are flooded several miles wide.
3. 32.20 ftThis is the 100 year flood...or 1 percent chance frequency flood...established by USGS in October 2006. Widespread major flooding. At least 40 square blocks of Greens Addition Subdivision will flood. Areas west of Moody Street between Water Street and Constitution Street flood. Flooding increases in Riverside Park and much of the golf course, including the golf cart sheds and the Texas Zoo. Much of the floodplain near and below the Guadalupe and San Antonio River confluence are flooded several miles wide.
4. 31.00 ftMajor lowland flooding occurs. The river generally floods 40 square blocks of Greens Addition Subdivision. Areas west of Moody Street between Water Street and Constitution Street flood, and access probably will be limited, including homes near Club Westerner. Much of the floodplain near and below the Guadalupe and San Antonio River confluence is flooded for several miles wide.
5. 30.50 ftNear fifty homes in the Greens Addition Subdivision, and the area west of Moody Street between Water and Constitution Streets flood. Water is on the inside lane of Moody Street at Wolfram Street. Hundreds of cattle are cut off and drowned below Cuero to near Tivoli. Highway 35 floods for several miles. Much of the flood plain near and below the San Antonio River confluence is several miles wide, flooding and isolating a large residential area.
6. 30.20 ftThis is the 10 year flood...or 10 percent chance frequency...established by the USGS in October 2006. Up to 40 square blocks in the Greens Addition Subdivision could flood, especially at the end of Gunther Street, encroaching the roadway ditches. Houses may flood at the west end of Conveent Steet near Victoria Street, and move into the inside lane of Moody Street and Wolfman Street. Flooding occurs in Riverside Park and much of the Riverside Golf Course, including the golf cart sheds and the Texas Zoo.
7. 30.00 ftMajor lowland flooding occurs. Water may flood houses at the west end of Convent Street near Victoria Street. Water begins to move into the inside lane of Moody Street at Wolfman Street. Flooding occurs in Riverside Park and much of the Riverside Golf Course, including the golf cart sheds and the Texas Zoo. Water will be over the river bank in the Greens Addition at the end of Gunther Street, encroaching the roadway ditches. Some of the homes in the subdivision will be impacted by at least shallow flooding.
8. 29.80 ftWater may flood houses at the west end of Convent Street near Victoria Street. The lowest homes in the Greens Addition Subdivision in Victoria, the city park, much of the golf course, including the golf cart sheds, and the zoo flood. A fishing resort below Highway 35 near Tivoli floods, and many homes above Highway 35 near Tivoli are surrounded by flow several hundred yards wide. 9. 29.60 ftMajor lowland flooding occurs. Water may enter the Texas Zoo if entrance gates are not closed off with flood gates and sandbags. Water flows over the river bank in the Greens Addition Subdivision at the end of Gunther Street, and encrouches the roadway ditches. The homes in the Greens Addition Subdivision could be impacted by shallow flooding. Hundreds of cattle in the flood plain below Cuero are cut off and may drown. Riverside Camp Grounds in Tivoli approaches to Highway 35 begin to flood.
10. 29.50 ftMajor lowland flooding occurs. Riverside Park, much of the golf course, including the golf cart sheds, and the zoo flood. Water begins to flow over the river bank in the Greens Addition Subdivision at the end of Gunther Street, and begins to encrouch into the roadway ditches. The homes in the Greens Addition Subdivision may be impacted by shallow flooding.
11. 29.00 ftWater crosses Fordyce Road at the large culvert between the lakes. The main portion of Saxet Lake Park is closed and water covers some of the picnic areas and roads. Gates located at the intersection of Fordyce Road and Fox road, as well as the intersection of Fordyce Road and Timber Drive are closed and no traffic is allowed through. Water is under the U. S. Business 59 East and West relief bridges, and over Criag and Constitution. Areas west of Moody Street between Water and Constituion are threatened.
12. 28.80 ftModerate flooding causes water to flow over Slayton Avenue and Memorial Drive, and starts flowing from the West Outfall toward Constitution and Craig Streets. Water is over Constitution and Craig Street and over areas west of Moody Street between Water and Constitution Streets. Water is also flowing over McCright and flowing into the golf course.
13. 28.50 ftModerate lowland flooding occurs. Water flows over the road at Red River and Bluff Intersection. Water may be flowing over the intersection of Craig and Constitution. The access to homes near Club Westener may be affected. Areas west of Moody Street between Water and Constitution Street may be impacted. Water is at the edge of Spring Creek Drive at the railroad underpass. The old town area may be threatened. The McCright Drive loop behind the baseball stadium may have water covering the road.
14. 28.00 ftWater flows into Saxet Lake Park starting to cover Fordyce Road, with portions of park inaccessible. Water crosses Fordyce Road at the large culvert between the lakes and main portion of Sexet Lake Park, covering some of the picnic area and roads. Water may be flowing under the US Business 59 East and West Relief Bridges. Water is on John F. Lee Drive in Riverside Park. On McCright Drive, water approaches the first parking lot, the field across the Texas Zoo, with baseball fields and stadium inaccessible.
15. 27.50 ftWater backs into the golf course next to the Optimist Club and the duck pond. Water is also flowing between the gate at Grover's Bend and McCright Drive. The water is also back up in the ditch along Memorial Drive in front of the volleyball courts and special events area.
16. 27.00 ftModerate lowland flooding occurs. The flow is well into Riverside Park, approaching low areas of the Texas Zoo and golf course. Livestock are cut off in low areas of the flood plain above Cuero to Tivoli. Water fills the City of Victoria's off channel freshwater storage lakes...the Old Frodyce property), and continues flowing under the US Business 59 East Relief Bridge.
17. 26.80 ftMinor lowland flooding occurs. The intersection of Tibilletti and River Road may flood. Water crosses River Road and then to FM 1685, known as Lower Mission Valley Road.
18. 26.50 ftMinor lowland flooding occurs. The Riverside Park Boat Ramp and Grovers Bend are inundated by flood water. There is also flood water on McCright Drive behind Rippamonti Field. Water flows over Smith Road, and Pozzi Road begins to flood. Flooding occurs in Timmys Crossing. Water in the old riverbed will cross under the railroad tracks close to Parsifal and US Business 59, then water will start ponding behind the structures facing Parsifal.
19. 26.00 ftFox Road may begin to flood. Water starts backing up in the old river bed at the intersection of Fordyce Road and Old River Road. Timmy''s Crossing begins to flood. Water in the old riverbed will cross under the railroad tracks close to Parsifal and US Business 59, then water will start ponding behind the structures facing Parsifal.
20. 25.60 ftMinor lowland flooding occurs. Flood Gate flow line outfall at the Guadalupe River for the Texas Zoo.
21. 24.00 ftMinor lowland flooding occurs. Water begins to flow over River Road. Fox''s Bend in Riverside Park is inaccessible, and the Riverside Boat Ramp parking area is affected by flood waters.
22. 23.00 ftMinor lowland flooding occurs. Fox's Bend in Riverside Park is inaccessible, and the Riverside Boat Ramp parking area is affected by flood waters.
23. 22.50 ftMinor lowland flooding occurs. Fox's Bend in Riverside Park becomes inaccessible, and the Riverside Boat Ramp parking area is affected by flood waters.
24. 21.00 ftMinor lowland flooding occurs, as the flow exceeds the east bank into low areas of Riverside Park.
25. 16.00 ftThe Riverside Boat Ramp is half covered with water.
