Whitewater Creek at Starrs Mill

1. 19.00 ftNear record flooding occurs in the woodlands and fields downstream from the Starrs Mill Dam to Line Creek. Most of Starrs Mill Park will be under 7 to 9 feet of water. The flood waters will surround the mill and be around two feet deep in the mill. The water will be around one foot deep in the building next to the mill and submerge the USGS gage house. A loss of data transmission will be likely. This will be similar to the July 1994 flood event due Tropical Storm Alberto.
2. 18.00 ftMajor flooding continues with widespread inundation flooding in the woodlands and fields downstream from the Starrs Mill Dam to Line Creek. Most of Starrs Mill Park will be under 6 to 8 feet of water. The flood waters will surround the mill and be around one foot deep in the mill. The water will enter the building next to the mill and begin to submerge the USGS gage house. A loss of data transmission will be likely. This will be similar to the July 2005 flood event due Tropical Storms Cindy and Dennis.
3. 17.00 ftMajor flooding begins. Widespread inundation flooding occurs in the woodlands and fields along the creek downstream from the Starrs Mill Dam to Line Creek. Most of Starrs Mill Park will be under 5 to 7 feet of water. The flood waters will surround the mill and begin to enter the building. The water level will reach the foundation of a building next to the mill and be one half foot below the USGS gage house. A loss of data transmission will be possible.
4. 16.00 ftSignificant flooding expands further into the woodlands and fields along the creek downstream from the Starrs Mill Dam to Line Creek. Most of Starrs Mill Park will be under 4 to 6 feet of water. The flood waters will be hitting the bottom of the mill. The water level will be around one foot deep over the wooden platform where the USGS gage house is located.
5. 15.00 ftModerate flooding begins. Significant flooding occurs in the woodlands and fields along the creek downstream from the Starrs Mill Dam to Line Creek. Most of Starrs Mill Park will be under 3 to 5 feet of water. The flood waters will approach the bottom of the mill and be flowing through the concrete spillway around one foot deep. The water level will reach the top of the wooden platform where the USGS gage house is located.
6. 14.00 ftMinor flooding expands further into the woodlands and fields along the creek downstream from the Starrs Mill Dam to Line Creek. Most of Starrs Mill Park will be under 2 to 4 feet of water. The flood waters will surround the steps leading to the mill and cover the concrete spillway around one half foot deep.
7. 13.00 ftMinor flooding continues to expand into the woodlands and fields along the creek downstream from the Starrs Mill Dam to Line Creek. Most of Starrs Mill Park including the rock access road will be under 1 to 3 feet of water. The flood waters will surround the steps leading to the mill and cover the concrete spillway.
8. 11.00 ftMinor flooding continues in the woodlands and fields along the creek downstream from the Starrs Mill Dam to Line Creek. The parking lot will be under a foot of water at Starrs Mill Park. The rock access road leading to the park will begin to flood. Flood waters will be flowing through the concrete spillway.
9. 10.00 ftFlood stage is reached. Minor flooding begins in the woodlands and fields along the creek downstream from the Starrs Mill Dam to Line Creek. The parking lot will begin to flood at Starrs Mill Park. Concrete picnic tables at the park will be under water. Flood waters will begin to flow through the concrete spillway.
10. 8.00 ftBankfull conditions are reached along the creek downstream from the Starrs Mill Dam to Line Creek. Some concrete picnic tables will be surrounded by water. Low lying areas of woodlands and fields will begin to flood further downstream.
