Gila River near Dome

1. 35.00 ftHigh banks on the north side of the river overflow. Major flooding occurs throughout the Gila River valley. This level is below the flood of record, 200,000 cfs, which occurred on January 22nd, 1916.
2. 30.00 ftMajor damage occurs throughout the area. All but the highest banks overflow in the immediate area of the gage.
3. 26.81 ftPeak flow of March 3rd, 1993 is reached. This is the flow of record since Painted Rock Dam was constructed. Extensive flooding occurs along the Gila River.
4. 26.00 ftExtensive flooding of agricultural areas, low bridges, and roadways occurs. There is a major impact at the confluence with the lower Colorado River in Yuma.
5. 25.75 ftThe peak flow of February 15th, 1932 is equaled. This was the highest recorded flow prior to the construction of Painted Rock Dam.
6. 24.00 ftFlood stage is reached. Minor lowland flooding occurs. Low water crossings are inundated.
7. 22.00 ftBankfull stage is reached. Overflow of low lying areas adjacent to the south side of the river occurs. There is some impact at the confluence of the Gila with the lower Colorado River at Yuma.
8. 20.87 ftEquals the peak flow of September 25, 1998. Lowland overflow on the south side of the river occurs.
9. 20.00 ftMinor inundation of low areas adjacent to the river occurs.
