During the late evening hours of September 9th, three to four inches of rain fell along the east slopes of the Baboquivari Mountains and northern portions of the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge along a 10 mile length of the Altar Wash 20 to 30 miles south of Three Points, Arizona. The flow peaked downstream at Three Points along the Brawley Wash at about 7500 cubic feet per second around 5:00 am MST on September 10th. While this represented a rise of more than six feet, only a small portion of this flow poured over the banks downstream of this gauge, flooding a sub-division with 8 to 12 inches of water. Roads were eventually closed although first responders were able to evacuate residents from ten mobile homes. The residents were unable to return until the following day. Minor damage occurred to several vehicles and mobile homes.

What this means

A best track is the record a warning agency settles on after the storm, not what it said at the time: position, maximum sustained wind and central pressure every six hours, revised against every observation that came in later. Category is the Saffir-Simpson scale, which runs from Category 1 at 64 kt to Category 5 at 137 kt and reads wind only, so it says nothing about surge or rain. Accumulated cyclone energy adds up the square of the wind through the storm's life, so it counts strength and duration together.
