Mt Rainier National Park received about 18 inches of rain in two days. The rain and resulting landslides washed out roads and trails, severed sewer, water and power lines and damaged campgrounds. In all, the damage was the worst in the 107 years of the park's existence and closed the park. The park was not expected to reopen until at least the spring 2007 and more likely summer 2007 after many initial repairs had been completed.

Record flooding occurred on the Cowlitz, Nooksack, Puyallup, Nisqually, Skykomish, Stillaguamish, Carbon, Snoqualmie, and Bogachiel. Major flooding occurred on the Tolt, Snohomish, Skokomish, Skagit, and White rivers. Other rivers flooding were the Satsop, Cedar, Wynoochee, Elwha, Deschutes, Dungeness, Skookumchuck, and Chehalis.

What this means

A best track is the record a warning agency settles on after the storm, not what it said at the time: position, maximum sustained wind and central pressure every six hours, revised against every observation that came in later. Category is the Saffir-Simpson scale, which runs from Category 1 at 64 kt to Category 5 at 137 kt and reads wind only, so it says nothing about surge or rain. Accumulated cyclone energy adds up the square of the wind through the storm's life, so it counts strength and duration together.
