The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  The Cottonwood Burn scar in Piute County in...
  Southwestern Piute County in central Utah...

* Until 545 PM MDT.

* At 242 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain over the Cottonwood Burn scar in Piute County, with the 
  heaviest rain falling over City Creek. Between 0.25 and 0.5 inches 
  of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.5 
  inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing 
  or expected to begin shortly.

Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow 
moving through the City Creek downstream to HW 89 between mile posts 
166 and 167 north of Junction. The debris flow can consist of rock, 
mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding in and around the Cottonwood
           Burn scar in Piute County.

This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall will cause 
extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks...streams...and 
ditches in the Cottonwood Burn scar in Piute County. Severe debris 
flows can also be anticipated across roads. Roads and driveways may 
be washed away in places. If you encounter flood waters...climb to 
safety.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become 
unstable and unsafe.

REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 545 PM MDT THIS AFTERNOON FOR SOUTHWESTERN 
PIUTE COUNTY...

At 506 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of 
rain fell from earlier thunderstorms over City Creek with the 
Cottonwood Burn scar in Piute County. Flash flooding is ongoing or 
expected to begin shortly.

Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow 
moving through the City Creek. The debris flow can consist of rock, 
mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding in and around the Cottonwood Burn scar in
         Piute County.

Flood waters have receded. The heavy rain has ended. Additional 
flooding is no longer expected to pose a threat out of City Creek 
within and downstream of the Cottonwood burn scar. Please continue 
to heed remaining road closures.

A Flood Watch remains in effect until 1200 AM MDT Saturday for 
portions of southern and southwest Utah.
