The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Southwestern Cedar County in east central Iowa...
  Northeastern Johnson County in east central Iowa...
  Southeastern Linn County in east central Iowa...

* Until 830 PM CDT.

* At 724 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line 
  extending from Shueyville to Cou Falls, moving southeast at 25 
  mph. A large hail producing storm is also located near the Linn 
  and Johnson County border.

  HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable 
           tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, 
           roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include...
  Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, West Branch, Coralville, North Liberty,
  Solon, Ely, University Heights, Shueyville, Lake Macbride State
  Park, Rochester, Buchanan, Newport, Cedar Valley, Sugar Bottom Camp
  Ground, Sutliff, West Overlook, Coralville Lake Dam Complex,
  Springdale, and Cedar Bluff.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 243 and 268.
 Interstate 380 between mile markers 8 and 17.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
sturdy building.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
