...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents.

* WHERE...Walton, Bay, Gulf, and Franklin County Beaches.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away 
  from shore into deeper water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Offshore buoys early this morning were
  observing southerly waves of 2 feet at 5-6 seconds, setting up a
  marginal situation for high rip current risk today. Prevailing
  winds today will be north to northeast, except for a nearshore
  seabreeze this afternoon. So rip current risk should decrease to
  moderate this evening. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
