...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Southeast winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph 
  expected. Higher elevations may see gusts up to 50 mph.

* WHERE...The mountains of western North Carolina, along and 
  west of the Blue Ridge Escarpment.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM EST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. 
  Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may 
  result.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heavy rain today will saturate the soil 
  and weaken the root system of some trees, allowing the wind 
  gusts to blow down and uproot some trees.

The weakening remnants of Tropical Cyclone Nicole have moved into
the central Appalachians, and winds will continue to steadily
diminish. Gusty winds from the northwest are expected to develop
