The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
  District Of Columbia
  Delaware
  Maryland
  Central and southern New Jersey
  Extreme southeastern Pennsylvania
  Central and northeastern Virginia
  Coastal Waters

* Effective this Thursday afternoon and evening from 1240 PM
  until 800 PM EDT.

* Primary threats include...
  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

SUMMARY...Scattered thunderstorms are expected to form near and east
of the Blue Ridge this afternoon, and storms will spread eastward
toward Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic coast through this evening. 
The storm environment favors a mix of multicell clusters and line
segments capable of producing damaging winds.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 90
statute miles east and west of a line from 30 miles south southwest
of Richmond VA to 15 miles west northwest of Philadelphia PA. For a

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
