Mesoscale Discussion 0587
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0717 PM CDT Mon May 10 2021

Areas affected...Portions of central North Carolina

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 163...

Valid 110017Z - 110115Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 163
continues.

SUMMARY...The severe threat has mostly waned across watch 163. An
isolated strong to severe storm remains possible for another hour or
two in western portions of the watch.

DISCUSSION...As the boundary layer cools, storms have weakened
considerably along the front with the only lightning now observed in
the western portion of watch 163. However, even these storms have
weakened in the past hour with this trend expected to continue.
Therefore, the severe threat has lessened considerably across watch
163 with an isolated severe threat remaining for another hour or two
in western portions of the watch.
